Isotopic fingerprints tie Yorkshire's immense Devil's Arrows to rock 18 kilometres away, ruling out the idea that glaciers left them locally. The analysis also confirms that a medieval village cross was carved from a lost monolith. The transport method and the reason Neolithic builders passed nearer stone sources remain unknown.
