An amateur astronomer scouting online maps for a Quebec camping trip noticed a circular feature that field researchers later traced to a roughly 25-kilometre impact structure, probably about 390 million years old. Shatter cones make the impact origin compelling and the research team considers Uhackatik essentially confirmed; formal recognition by the Meteoritical Society is still pending.
